To create your own themes, all you need is a little bit of time and creativity. First, you'll have to create some wallpaper. Then maybe a screen saver and some system screens. If you'd like to change the icons around, then you'll need to create those too, or search the various icon depository sites on the net for good ones to use. Want to replace the Windows sounds with specific ones like sound bytes for your theme? Then you'll need to create them, or grab a few from the web. Be sure to ask permission when you use files others have made in your theme if you plan on distributing it.
Now to put all those files together into an actual theme, you'll need a good theme authoring program. In our opinion, the best one out there is Desktop Architect. This free program will help you put your theme together, test it, and even pack it all up into a nice little self-extracting (exe) installation package if you decide to share it on the internet or friends! If that isn't enough, it also helps you manage your existing theme collection.
